The Donkey Cart needs someone to feed it.

SOLUTION

The Glove Thing is the hand that feeds the Donkey — a wearable operator interface inspired by everyone's favorite disembodied Addams Family appendage. A human puts it on and becomes part of the warehouse system. The laser scanner and camera feed data directly to the Dumb Brain, the battery keeps it running all shift, and the speaker talks back when the Brain has something to say. Everything the Donkey knows, it learned from the Glove Thing first.

The Microphone is a directional condenser capsule mounted on the Turn Pike tablet head assembly within 40 centimeters of the driver window position, capturing the driver's voice and ambient transaction audio and transmitting it in real time to the operator's home audio system. A noise cancellation DSP stage filters the highway ambient noise floor before transmission, isolating speech frequencies so the operator hears the driver and not the truck behind them. The capsule is housed in a windscreen-fitted weatherproof enclosure rated for sustained wind and precipitation exposure. Gain is auto-adjusted for the distance between the capsule and the driver based on the arm extension position at the time of the interaction. A secondary omni capsule behind the main capsule captures the full booth ambient environment for the operator's VR spatial audio feed, so the operator hears what it sounds like to be there without the noise reduction applied, giving them the full sensory context of the toll booth experience from their couch, whether or not they wanted it.
