PROBLEM
The story is out there and someone is going to get hit with it.
SOLUTION
Ron Justin is a journalist of considerable hair and uncertain jurisdiction. He operates on the mountain — a career elevation metaphor where altitude corresponds to relevance, column inches, and the quality of the green room. The German Club is a blunt-force editorial instrument deployed against individuals currently occupying a mountain position they can no longer defend, knocking them loose from their footing and sending them tumbling toward Planet Under Unemployedment at terminal velocity. The Hot Seat is a more theatrical device: the subject is briefly extracted from obscurity, seated under full-spectrum lighting, asked several questions at volume, and then launched back down the mountain with additional momentum, landing considerably further from the summit than where they started. The Court of Public Opinion, by contrast, is a collegial venue — good acoustics, comfortable seating, a gift shop. Ron Justin prefers to file from there when available. He does not know what to do with his hands but the wave is institutional.
