PROBLEM
Camping is not cool enough.
SOLUTION
Mount Zeta is a multi-day wilderness exploration challenge operating within the Orion's Belt legendary ecosystem, presenting contestants with a difficult trail route, zero provisioned resources, and a persistent augmented reality monster combat layer synchronized to the physical terrain. Participants are equipped with the Tree Club sword, a melee combat instrument used to engage virtual monster encounters triggered at procedurally distributed positions across the mountain. Each contestant carries three lives. Losing all three in combat resets the participant to the start of the course with no retained inventory or progress. Safe zones are distributed at irregular intervals across the mountain and function as the only sanctioned locations where contestants may purchase additional resources, consumables, and extra lives using points or currency accumulated during the run. Loot stashes are hidden across the park in undisclosed locations and must be actively discovered during exploration — their contents scale with difficulty of terrain in which they are concealed. A single secret key is located somewhere on the mountain. Contestants who reach the summit in possession of the key are awarded the mountain’s treasure cache — a full loot chest of swag and prizes scaled to the legendary difficulty tier. Mount Zeta is the only mountain in the system with a native pause mechanic: participants may suspend their run at any point, retreat to their camp, sleep, eat, and resume the following day with full state preserved — active monster encounters included. Fights run to their conclusion regardless of duration. MTREES nodes distributed across the terrain produce calibrated physical responses — wind, thermal, mist, aroma, and light — synchronized to the augmented reality combat layer, replicating the environmental immersion of a Halloween spook house at wilderness scale. The mountain does not close at night.
