SOLUTION

The Voting Monitor is a 15.6-inch industrial touchscreen display unit rated for outdoor use, gloved operation, and the full ambient temperature range of an election day in any jurisdiction that has held one outdoors. The display runs the Voter Rotor ballot interface at 1080p on a multi-touch capacitive panel calibrated for bare finger and thin glove input, with a minimum touch target size of 20 millimeters across all interface elements to reduce mis-taps among voters who are nervous, elderly, or have not touched a touchscreen in a while. The screen brightness adjusts automatically between 400 nits for indoor and overcast conditions and 1,000 nits for direct sunlight, ensuring the ballot is readable regardless of where the city decided to put the pole. Font sizes are selectable at three levels from the ballot interface without requiring an accessibility menu, because the accessibility menu being hard to find is itself an accessibility problem. The monitor is recessed behind a polycarbonate anti-glare cover that also provides a surface suitable for vigorous cleaning between voters.
