Truck Heater

Type: component
PROBLEM

Sleeping in a cold truck cab in winter requires running the engine all night, which burns fuel and makes noise.

SOLUTION

The Truck Heater is the winter-season counterpart to the Truck AC module, a pole-mounted ceramic radiant heating unit with the same flexible hose and magnetic window-mount adapter interface, delivering 1,500 watts of convective heat into the cab sleeping space without engine operation. The unit features a low-noise fan rated at 38 decibels at 1 meter because the driver needs to sleep and this is not a industrial workspace. A thermostat probe on the hose end reads cab temperature and cycles the heater to maintain a set point, rather than running at full output until someone wakes up sweating. The window adapter and hose are the same component as the Truck AC version and are shared between the two units, meaning a driver with both modules only needs one window kit. The heater is rated for ambient temperatures down to minus 30 degrees Celsius at the outdoor unit, which covers everywhere a truck is going to be parked in winter except the places where it probably shouldn't be.
