PROBLEM

A voting monitor in a public space is visible to everyone standing nearby unless something is done about it.

SOLUTION

The Privacy Screen is an electro-chromic optical filter panel bonded to the front surface of the Voting Monitor that restricts the display viewing angle to a 30-degree cone centered on the voter's standing position, rendering the ballot invisible to any person standing at greater than 15 degrees off-axis from the primary viewing position. The filter activates automatically when the voter is verified and admitted to the station and deactivates when the session ends and the station resets for the next voter. The privacy screen adds no perceptible color shift or brightness reduction within the permitted viewing cone. Outside the cone, the display appears as a uniform light gray surface with no discernible content, which is either reassuring or unsettling depending on where you are standing relative to the cone. The privacy screen operates independently of Arty's Curtains and is included in the base unit price. Arty's Curtains are not.
