PROBLEM

A smart pencil sleeve needs power and there is no room for a battery that lasts long enough.

SOLUTION

The Kinetic Generator is a miniaturized electromagnetic induction harvesting module embedded in the core of the Rubberized Sleeve, consisting of a tungsten proof mass on a spring-suspended rail that moves axially through a wound coil during the shaking event, generating a charge pulse that is rectified and stored in a supercapacitor bank for immediate distribution to the Under Writer component stack. A vigorous 10-shake activation sequence at an amplitude of approximately 15 centimeters generates sufficient charge for 45 minutes of active display and voice recognition operation, after which the operator is expected to shake the unit again and probably will because the shaking action has been documented as satisfying in user research. The kinetic generator operates in parallel with the Ear Sweat Battery for trickle charging during storage periods. The generator has no replaceable parts and no serviceable components and will outlast the writing utensil it is mounted on by a meaningful margin, which was the intended design outcome.
